And I agree with that, at least once you know how to (follow the guidelines laid out on this page, and you’ll pass yours too). So considering you could have been facing a facing urine or hair follicle test instead, this is indeed good news.

The swab test is pretty much the ONLY type of test where a weed smoker doesn’t have a harder time passing than say, a meth, ecstasy, cocaine or opiate user.

On this page I’ll go through the pros and cons of mouth swab drug screenings, how the testing is done, some legal aspects of it, as well as the best way to pass oral drug tests in 2018.

Mouth swab tests go by many names. Don’t get confused however; here are some examples, all of which refer to basically the same thing in this context and are passed the same way:

Saliva screenings are relatively new but have increased in popularity over the last decade. Some of the reasons for this are that compared to other available test options they are:

These are beneficial things for weed smokers as well, if you remember what I said above about the oral test being the most weed-friendly test. If there’s gonna be a test at all, this is the one to prefer.

So although it has its advantages for the employer, it also has many disadvantages that for you and me, the weed consumers, are good, such as:

Obviously the short detection part holds the most weight for us, along with them being easy to fool with the right products, but with lack of proper knowledge about drug screening it’s no wonder a business goes with the cheapest alternative.

You can also deduct from above disadvantages of the saliva test that it’s a lot less accurate than many other tests when it comes to determining your habits of smoking weed.

Mouth swab tests are commonly used for post-accident tests, pre-employment tests, when there is any reasonable suspicion of drug use, when returning to duty, and as random tests.

How Long Does THC Stay In Your Saliva? (+ general oral drug test detection times)

As mentioned before, one of the best things about the mouth swab drug test (for us stoners) is its shorter detection times. So, more precisely, how long does THC stay detectable in the saliva then?

It ranges from a few hours to a bit over a week, varying from person to person depending on different factors, but mainly on how much and heavy you smoke, especially at that last occasion.

Hence, to always be on the safe side, I recommend you use a detox product (more on that later) whenever you have not managed to abstain for at least a week. That is, for any oral swab test you actually care about passing.

When it comes to other drugs, the saliva drug test detection times are not that different from weed. It generally starts withing 1 to 7 hours, with estimated detection times varying from up to 2 days and up to 7 days for individual drugs.

Basically, just as with weed, the swab test is very unlikely to detect whatever you’ve been taking after a week of abstinence.

Since marijuana builds up inside the body to a different extent than most other, not fat-solubale, drugs, it’s exact detection time frame depends a bit more on how frequent and heavy a user you are as well. The method of consumption matters too, with for example hash oil and hashish haivng slightly different timelines compared to regular smoking.

How Oral Tests Work

As you probably know, toxins are everywhere. In the air we inhale, the food we eat, the water we drink.

These toxins then gets converted naturally by our body into metabolites.

Some of these metabolites get stuck and stored in the body, how many depending on the substance and of course how much you were exposed to.

The metabolites get released from where they’re stored over time and thus get into our blood stream and then into saliva, hair and urine.

These metabolites are what urine tests screen for to decide whether you pass or fail your test. Saliva tests on the other hand, look for the THC itself, before it’s broken down into its metabolites, which contributes to its shorter detection time.

As for the method of testing, it is very simple. Your saliva sample will be taken usually either from between you gum and lower cheek by placing a swab or strip there for a minute or two, or by swabbing along the gum line, lower cheek, under the tounge or close to the tonsils.

Within a couple of minutes the result can be determined.

The swab resembles a common toothbrush or a mix between one and a cotton swab.

How To Pass A Mouth Swab Drug Test Fast And Effortlessly (In 12 Hours If Needed + Handy Tips)

If you haven’t been using any marijuana the last 10 days, you should generally be alright. No need to stress about getting clean since your saliva should have cleared up naturally.

Saliva tests used to only be able to detect THC for a day or two but sensitivty has increased with more recent technology and I sometimes hear of people testing positive after abstaining for a week, while at the same time not being heavy smokers. It’s rare, but it can happen.

If you did smoke weed recently and your test is coming up soon, I recommend you take some precautions.

My definitive go-to product in this case is called Oral Clear. It’s one of the most popular products for saliva tests since it’s very consistent, and comes in the form of a gum (only gum on the market) that you chew before your test.

If there’s one thing you should get for a mouth swab test, it’s this gum.

It takes about 30 seconds to neutralize your saliva and then leaves you with a 30 minute window to leave your swab sample (that’s TWICE the time frame of most mouth washes for this purpose by the way). Still, don’t forget to always read the instructions.

I’ve touched on this before, but I used to rely on detox mouth washes in combination with a 3 or 5 day detox program, which in my opinion is way less convenient (as well as more costly) than just using this gum.

Most mouth washes you need to rinse with, several times, and then leave them up to 5 minutes before they take effect. And then you have up to a 15 minute time span where you must leave your sample. If your test is delayed for 10-15 min, your mouth wash may have just lost the majority of its effect.

Simply put, detox mouth washes are riskier and leaves a much bigger room for error.

The gum is not only much more discrete and easy to use anywhere (rinsing your mouth requires access to some place to spit only minutes before your test), but also of stronger potency than most mouth washes, meaning you won’t have to supplement with other detox products the days before your test.

Oral Clear is of the Clear Choice brand, a brand that has been around since 1993, and their website is www.testnegative.com.

That said, being a premium product Oral Clear does come at a premium price tag, and if it’s out of your price range but you still want to improve your chances of passing your test considerably, my favorite budget product would be Rescue Wash. I have used this myself in the past before discovering Oral Clear, and it is very good value for it’s lower price.

In addition to using a tailor-made product however, make sure you brush your teeth and mouth thoroughly and preferably rinse with regular mouth wash twice or even three times daily the days before the test. This includes brushing the tounge, cheek and gums. This should be a regular habit of any weed smokers since it helps protect you against on-the-spot saliva THC tests without notice that can happen in some work places and organizations.

Don’t RUIN your mouth however. In other words, don’t overdo the brushing part. It doesn’t look entirely natural (worst case straight out suspicious) to those administering your mouth swab test if your mouth happens to look like you’ve been eating barbwire or if there is blood on your cotton swab.

If you’re in a position where said random mouth swab tests can be administered without warning, another great tip is to always carry an Oral Clear Gum with you when you’ve been smoking weed recently.

Obviously you should abstain from weed for as long as possible before the test, the most crucial time being the last 24-72 hours. It says on the Oral Clear description that no abstaining is necessary, but I still think that 24 hours at the very least is a best practice.

When you’ve got no other choice however (and a bit on how much/frequently you’ve been using the last time and few days back), as long as you’ve got some Oral Clear at home I don’t see why you wouldn’t have a good shot at passing your mouth swab test in 12 hours or even less. I’d not say it’s guaranteed though, so don’t try it on purpose.

Oral Swab Test Home Remedies

I’ll include some of these mostly because I know how much people love their home remedies, although they rarely live up to their claims.

Seriously though, don’t rely on these. At most, keep them in mind as helpful additions to the strategies already mentioned above, because passing your drug test is nothing you want to take an unnecessary gamle on.

So, here goes, some common saliva cleansing home remedies in no particular order:

• Altoid mints
• Peroxide mouthwash
• Chewing ice
• Listerine
• Vinegar
• Aspirin

What Happens If You Fail Your Test?

If you test positive on an oral fluid test, appropriate action will be taken depending on the circumstances.

You can either accept your fate, or…

If the actor inside you can pull it off, one thing you can do is to hold firm that you’re innocent. Act surprised, not at all angry or aggressive, but rather confused and concerned. This must be done very convincingly (I don’t personally recommend this though!).

Although false positives for THC-specific tests is mostly a myth (no other substances really resemble THC-metabolites) drug tests often screen for many drugs at once, some of which false positive results are not that uncommon for.

Be prepared to tell those working at the testing facility about any supplements, medicines or prescription drugs you may have taken recently.

It may be a good idea to ask for a urine test to help prove that you’re innocent. Saliva tests aren’t as legally sound nor accurate as urine tests, a.k.a more questionable in terms of the law. They are not approved by either FDA or SAMHSA for use in DOT-regulated federally mandated tests. However this is mainly due to potential contamination risks concerning those collecting the samples (it is possible for blood to be present in the saliva of someone with damaged cavities). Nonetheless, your concerns of how you could’ve failed may have them want more evidence before any serious action is taken.

When I say serious action, what I mean is basically that you won’t get the job or might risk losing the current one (if it’s that kind of test). Just so you’re aware we’re not talking of any serious legal consequences here in general.

Usually it takes a few days to schedule a urine test, which will give you time to prepare!

This is no excuse however, considering how simple it is (as explained above) to pass the test to begin with. A job will pay for a simple detox gum many times over, which is why I always consider it a great precautionary investment, even if you think you will likely pass without it.

As a last resort, you may want to seek legal counsel, although a need for this would be exceptionally rare.

This holds true both when they’re taking blood, and when testing urine.

The exception to this would be when you’re going in for a physical where the drug test isn’t the main part of your exam. Then it could happen, although it isn’t necessarily the rule here either.

And that’s that! So If you’ve got just a regular drug test, whether you’re pregnant or not will remain no one else’s business for a little while longer, at least until that baby bump starts speaking for itself :)..

Although the cause of a lot of anxiety for some, the good news is that once you actually know how to pass a urine drug test without being naturally clean, it really doesn’t have to be all that complicated.

I lost count a long time ago of the number of these I’ve beaten. A few of them while actually being clean, but most of them while having somewhat recently smoked a bowl or two.

On this page I’m going to lay out for you as clearly as I can what the most appropriate steps to take are when you want to pass a urine drug screening, which is what I do to pass my own urinalysises consistently and what most more “seasoned” cannabis lovers do as well.

So worry not, you’ll be well on your way to passing yours in no time!

In order to decide whether you actually need to worry about passing your test or not, the first steps will be to understand how long weed (or your drug of choice) stays present in your pee in the first place, and also whether your drug is something being tested for:

THC And Drug Detection Times In Urine

I’ve covered this before on the website already, so the following will just be a quick recap of what you really ought to know on the subject, but here goes:

Drugs and their metabolites (THC especially so), will stay in your body in trace amounts and be present in your urine for a very long time after using them, but what matters for a drug test is only that the concentrations of them fall below the drug test cut-off levels. For marijuana, the standard cut-off is at 50ng/ml, or in some special cases as low as 20 ng/ml. Anything under that and you will pass the piss test.

The detection times of THC in urine depend on many different factors including your metabolism, weight, fat percentage, lifestyle and so on, but more than anything it’s dependent on how heavy a smoker you are or were and how long you’ve abstained. Hence, how long weed stays in your urine can vary by a lot.

It ranges from anywhere between a day or less to over 3 months. But don’t assume the worst just yet, and even if the worst is the case, there are ways to get around that too that I’ll get too soon enough. Here are some general estimation pointers on how long you can expect it to take for your pee to be clean naturally and not need to worry about your test at all:

• Single time use (a puff or two from a joint but nothing other than that over the last few months) – a couple of days MAX.
• Occasinal use (Maybe once every 1-2 weeks, not excessive amounts) – 1-2 weeks
• Moderate use (Twice a week give or take, standard amounts) – 2-4 weeks
• Heavy and/or frequent use (3 or more times a week, perhaps daily, standard to large amounts per occasion) – 3 – 14 weeks (Yep that’s right, up to 3 and a half months worst case scenario for heavy daily use).

Keep in mind, this is not precise by any means and as mentioned before can vary from person to person, so often it can be a good idea to take some precautions anyways if you’re somewhat close to falling withing above timelines.

When it comes to other drugs the detection times are a lot shorter in general, often less than a week or two max.

With that said, if you’re still worried about your drug test, let’s continue.

What Drugs Is Your Urine Test Screening For?

If it’s marijuana you’re here for, you can pretty much move on to the next step already, since THC will be screened for. Even CBD oils can give a positive result at times, albeit falsely so.

If it isn’t, other common drugs screened for in a 12 panel urine test include amphetamines, methamphetamines opiates, cocaine, benzos, PCP, oxycodone, methadone, propoxyphene, MDMA and barbiturates.

If you’re not on the list, do your research and make sure to find out whether it’s tested for or not, or if you can’t consider taking precautions to pass your test on the assumption that they will test for it.

How To Pass A Urine Drug Test, The 2 Most Effective And Valid Ways

There are two ways of passing the piss test that work very well, and which one to go with depends on the circumstances more than anything.

They are either getting your pee clean through detox, or using a substituted urine instead of your own.

To simplify:

The urine drug test requires you to give a urine sample. If you’ve recently used pot, metabolites resulting from your body breaking down THC can be found in your urine. These are also what the drug test is looking for. So either you lower the amount of these enough that they don’t ring any warning bells on your test, or you turn in a sample that never had any drug toxins in it to begin with. Simple enough so far, right?

A urine test can be given at any time, without much warning, but this is rare. Usually you get a time scheduled at a testing facility in the near future and will have some time to prepare for it. Either way, let’s look at these two methods more closely:

Passing The Piss Test Through Detox

Your body detoxes itself from all kinds of unwanted stuff naturally over time, but when mentioned in this context detoxing means speeding up your body’s detoxification so it happens much faster than it normally does.

The are two main routes to detoxing, best by far is doing both since they work synergistically and allow you to get more out of the other. The more basic way of the two has to do with healthy habits in general:

• Sweating – the more the better. Exercise is the best way since this also puts your metabolism in high gear.
• Drinking lots of fluids – water combined with diuretics such as teas are good.
• Eating healthy – this way your body’s detox works better over all.

The second part to the puzzle to detox rapidly is taking advantage of potent detox products designed with this goal in mind.

As with any drug test, I’m all for minimizing the risks of failing it. If that means I need to spend a few extra dollars, so be it. Keeping my job is gonna be worth it.

Pretty simple, huh? This works well for both supervised and unsupervised urine tests.

Synthetic urine is a good option at times, although in my opinion mostly not preferred over detoxing.

What changed is that labs got better at determining whether a urine sample was real or not, but more importantly that the testing supervision got stricter to the point where there many times is nowhere left to hide your bag of fake pee.

As a result of this, beating the urine test with synthetic urine is not as easy as it once was.

It doesn’t help that a lot of aged information on this topic from older articles and forum posts online keep fooling people. They then do it wrong and end up not only failing their tests, but have to live with the embarrassment of getting caught with a bag of heated pee strapped to their thighs (or wherever).

With all this said, I do want to point out that, although not as easy as in the past, it still doesn’t have to be all too difficult to beat your drug test this way. It depends on the supervision strictness of those testing you, what urine brand you use and a few other things. When needed for an unsupervised test, Sub-Solution is what I use. Alternative Home Remedies To Pee Clean (Expert Tips: Don’t Rely On These)

There are a few alternatives, some helpful, some just dumb. These should all be taken with a grain of salt however, since they are no substitute to the more reliable methods described above.

One common rumor is that you can pass the test by simply adding an adulterate to your pee after it’s in the cup. This is not very hard for drug testers to detect however, since they usually screen for common adulterants (bleach, ammonia, visine, you name it) and any irregularities (too diluted, pH out of whack, etc) in a sample will cause suspicions.

The same is true for the rumored golden seal, cranberry juice and Palo Azul. Golden seal will do little if anything to help you pass the test. Cranberry juice will likely make your test look tampered with due to the pH. Palo Azul is unlikely to help you more than any other diuretic.

Among home remedy based techniques many have seen success with the Certo method (sometimes referred to as the Sure Gel or Sure Jell method), based on using fruit pectins before your test. I wouldn’t personally rely solely on this though, but it could definitely work as substitute for the same-day detox drink.

As touched upon before, drinking a lot of water, and thus urinating frequently, is key the days leading up to your urine test. Diluting your urine sample is another popular and somewhat effective aid in passing urinalysises. Essentially, it relies on consuming a lot of liquids before your test. This can work due to the test measures concentration of THC metabolites, nanograms per millilitre (ng/ml). by increasing the fluid amount while the amount of metabolites stay the same, the concentration lowers.

There are problems that need to be addressed though, to hide that you’ve diluted it (they can see this through various ways). Firstly you need to add some color to the urine or it will be all watery. A vitamin B-2 or B-complex tablet will make it yellow again. You also need to raise your creatinine levels since they look at these when deciding if your sample is too diluted. Taking creatine 2 days before your test is the best way for this, since it gets metabolized into creatinine within 48 hours.

Aspirin is another often mentioned home remedy. Taking 4 aspirins 4-6 hours before the test can sometimes interfere with immunoassays and cause false negative.

A blood drug test is likely the most accurate of all four THC tests, provided it’s it is administered within its detection time.

However, it is also the rarest test of them.

How can this be?

The answer is simple. The blood test is the most expensive, period. It is also the most invasive type of drug screening.

Therefore, you’ll likely never be compelled to give your blood for THC testing purposes, unless the stakes are high regarding money or legal consequences. Sometimes a blood test for drugs is ordered by insurance companies.

But since it will happen to some of us, I’ll go through what you need to know for the best chances of passing one.

Basics Of The Blood Drug Test

The blood test looks for the actual drug substance rather than its metabolites (products after your body breaks it down), as is what for example urine tests target. It also only reveals the toxin contamination levels in your body right at the time of the test (hair tests go back in time).

One big positive to blood tests from a stoners perspective is the detection time. It is rather short. Generally less than two days for a one time use or 3-4 days at tops. For a regular user it’s generally less than 7 days or perhaps a little longer if you’re a very heavy smoker.

So still this is nothing like the months of possible detection time of hair and even urine tests.

How to Pass a Blood Drug Test

As you may know by now, I prefer to minimize the risks.

Therefore, to pass the blood test it’s best if you abstain any cannabis consumption for a week. If you smoked weed the same week of the test, my advise would be to clear your system with some Toxin Rid. The 3-day detox should be sufficient here, but if you have more time than that then go with a longer detox. Safety comes first.

However, if you’re a chronic/regular/heavy user, I suggest that you either abstain for 2 weeks+ (the more the better) or go through a 7 or 10-day Toxin Rid detox in the period before your test. This should pretty much clear your blood of THC.

Exercising, eating well, staying hydrated and getting enough sleep is always helpful before any drug test, with the exception of hair drug tests where it doesn’t really matter. Note that these are very safe guidelines and that it is still definitely possible to pass a blood test without any kind of detox efforts even if you smoked just three or even two days back. Many have done that (some have failed that as well). It is risky though, and not something I would try myself.

If you smoked the same day as your blood test, chances are you’re actually screwed. It’s not as simple with blood tests as with some of the other ones where you can use things such as a mouth wash/gum, fake pee or a detox drink and have a decent chance of passing.

Your best bet here is going for the above mentioned Sure Gel detox.

Legal adulterants aren’t really an option druing a blood test and are also very easy to detect. In other words, if you attempt cheating that way, they’ll likely know about it.

The Macujo Method To Cleanse Your Hair Follicles

The Macujo method is the most effective method you’ll find to beat the hair follicle test at the moment. Literally hundreds of weed users have used it to pass their test and shared their success.  Hence with time it’s gained popularity over the internet. Judging from user feedback online it’s rocking a well over 90% success rate in beating the hair test and is now probably the most discussed method for passing the test on online and social platforms.

During the 3 last days before your test, preferably longer (9 or 10 days ideal), follow these instruction at least 8-10 times. If you start 10 days in advance, you can do it once daily, if you have just 5 days, then twice daily is appropriate.

First you need access to a sink where you can wash and rinse your hair with warm water.

1. Put on your goggles. This is gonna get messy!
2. Wet you hair under the warm water.
3. Massage vinegar into your hair and scalp. Don’t skimp. Avoid getting this in your eyes.
4. Take some Neutrogena T/Sal and massage it into your hair and scalp as well. This may burn. Then wipe clean exposed skin that are not part of the scalp such as ears and forehead.
5. Put on a shower cap and let it sit for 30-40 min and use a wet towel to wipe away what escapes the shower cap.
6. Remove the shower cap and rinse your hair.
7. Wash and rinse your hair twice using Nexus Aloe Rid Shampoo.
8. Rinse THOROUGHLY. Use a small amount of tide detergent to help with the final wash, and plenty of warm water.
9. (Optional) After an hour or so, if your hair feels uncomfortably dry, use a conditioner to return some of its moist.

The theory is that this process works through opening up your hair to allow Aloe Rid to take full effect.

Personally I follow this method to the dot. Use the Ultra Clean on the day of your test.

Hair Follicle Home Drug Testing Kits

This deserves to be mentioned since it can be very helpful with tracking your detox progress to see if you attempts at cleansing your hair follicles has paid off.

Hair home tests differ from urine and saliva in that samples need to be sent to a lab to be analyzed. This should be included in a good hair test kit, and is the reasons these test cost a little more.

Hair Confirm is a good testing brand and the one TestClear sells. It works like this:

1. Once you get your test kit, you place your hair sample in the envelope included with the kit.
2. You then send the envelope to the testing lab (the address is on it and shipping is pre-paid). It arrives in one business day.
3. In a few business days you get your test results (everything is anonymous so you don’t risk anything testing yourself like this).

For a really high-stakes drug test a home test like this might be worth considering.

Personally I usually don’t use a home test for my hair tests, although I do use home tests myself before urine screenings.

Alternatives For The Hair Test

There is another option that is regarded as reasonably effective among the community froums. It’s sometimes referred to as the Jerry G method and uses peroxide bleach, baking soda and hair dying among a few other things.

The downside to it is that it quite literally destroys your hair through repeated bleaching and that you may want to shave it off after the test. This is probably the main reason most people prefer the Macujo method over this.

I myself have never tried this one since I love my hair way too much for that.

Which brings me to a third option, let’s call it the shaving method.

Basically it means shaving all of your hair off. Not just on your head, but the rest of your body as well since that hair can be used as substitute.

In theory this works to avoid the hair test although you’ll likely have to do a urine test instead. Worst case scenario they’ll refuse to hire you out of suspicions. I mean, let’s be frank here, who does that? Shaving every hair off their body, that is.

If you had hair during your first interview and not at the time of your drug test, I shouldn’t have to tell you why that is even more suspicious.

If you can prove you’re a professional swimmer then sure, go ahead.
